A white board also known as pen-board is white colored in common for all and having a glossy surface. The markings made in this white board are usually not permanent. It works same as a chalkboard but some markings in this chalk boards temporarily remains on the surface of it. It was in the year 1990, when the craze for white boards increased by much. It then became a compulsory useful material for use in meeting rooms, offices, and other working environments. The white boards are also for teaching children in schools.

The white board uses non-permanent markers instead of chalks. Generally the white boards are manufactured from three materials. It includes melamine resins, which are comparatively cheaper; steal coated with polyester, and enameled steel, which are the most expensive one. The steel white boards are usually magnetic, in which we can fix notes by the help of magnets. The boards, which are enameled with steel, are generally much durable than the steels, which are painted.

Earlier the chalkboards were small slates, which were square in shape. These boards were framed with the help of wood to prevent it from breaking. These type of chalk boards were used numerously in schools as paper was expensive a bit. Going through various stages of evolution, today’s chalkboards are of greenish cast and chalks are free from dusts. The educators generally teach the activity lessons first in these chalk boards to the child from their first year of education.
